about me

hiking in Costa Rica - back before I was bride!

I'm Jes, and I'm so excited you stopped by to view my lil wedding blog!  Welcome.  Stay awhile.  Introduce yourself!

My loverboy, Tommy, and I tied the knot on a beautiful mountaintop overlooking the glorious landscape of Northern Arizona on May 30, 2010.  This blog served as my sounding board, venting space, and idea catalog as I prepared for our forest celebration. It helped to hone in my sanity while inspiring those creative juices to flow!   We were on a tight budget (hello grad student, and teacher salary!) and managed to pay for our wedding ourselves, which was tricky, but do-able.

I had a crazy year back in 2010.  I graduated from podiatric medical school a few days after our lovely wedding.  In the months leading up to the wedding, I spent 8 months out of the 12 traveling around the country for clinical rotations.  It was a blast, but it was challenging - especially for wedding planning!  A few days after our wedding, and my graduation, my husband and I relocated from our home in the beautiful desert of Phoenix, Arizona to the lush green hills of upstate New York for my surgical residency program.

Oh!  And I got pregnant a couple weeks after our wedding!!!   What a delightful little gem of an adventure that was!! Our sweet baby girl was born in March and she was the center of our teeny little universe.  We named her Clara...and she has been the source of what I write about these days.  Can you blame me?  She's adorable!

To matters even more interesting, we decided to keep expanding our family while I was a resident.  We welcomed our beautifully plump baby boy in February 2013 - named him Jack - and we are all in love with him.  Our little loves are 23 months apart, and carry around my heart in their hands.  In the summer of 2013 we will relocate to the warm desert of Arizona, where I will go into private practice and my husband will teach high school.  We are desperately excited to welcome this new chapter into our book...

...stick around - life is fun.
