our wedding video!!!!!!

Ben, our wedding videographer, was the bomb...did I mention that already?  Anyway, he just sent over our wedding video and I HAD to share it!!  He used our "first dance" tune:  Sweet Pea by Amos Lee.





I want to share WHY I wanted a videographer so bad. It's a lil story, so just sit tight if you are interested:

My mom and I were visiting my very sick great uncle and aunt at their home in El Paso around 14 years ago (maybe longer? maybe not??) I remember this incredible VHS they shared with us...it made me and my mom SOB. It was converted from 8mm film to VHS and it was their wedding - back in 1947...the bride was all decked out...there were tons of people outside at the church steps waving the happy couple into their fancy get-away car. The entire clip maybe lasted less than a minute. BUT. My grandparents were in it...so young in their early 20's...in their beautiful stylish 40's attire... smiling... breathing... youthful... joyful. This incredible glimpse gave life to my Grandfather, as he passed long before I was ever born. Not to mention, it allowed me to see my Grammy as the woman she was before she was my grandmother, before her smile gave her wrinkles, before her silvery hair, before she got sick. It was such a precious gift to see. I wish I had that little clip.

I was hesitant to hire a videographer...it was an expense (but it wasn't expensive in the grand scheme of things.) I'd heard people give opinions for both sides: some said is the was the best money they spent at their wedding, some said it was a waste. Yet, I wanted to captured our movement, the progression of our smiles, the heartiness of our actual laughter. In 10 short years we won't look the same, our family members won't look the same...and this was such a beautiful day to film. Think about hiring a videographer. I highly recommend ours!!

Here's a little taste of our beautiful day.  The best day of my life.  The day I married my best friend in front of all those we love most.  The day that changed my world forever. 

I'm more than excited to revisit those precious moments, and to share them with you!  I'll begin my recaps next week.  

I've watched this sweet lil video about a ZILLION times since our videographer, Ben, sent it over.  Like - literally a ZILLION times.  Every time I watch it my heart gets stuck in my throat and I find myself smiling bigger than I thought was humanly possible.  To me, it's sooo beautiful.

honeymoon films

I think this is really fun! LOVE the idea of filming some of the adventure of the honeymoon...and I especially love the look when it's captured on 8mm. So nostalgic. Makes me dream about all the places I'd love to travel with my loverboy.

diy: super 8

OK. So after these videos, I've decided that having an 8mm video of our wedding celebration would be radical. Seriously. So I was so excited (and surprised!) when A CUP OF JO! talked about Super 8 videos this week...I followed the film from her site to here (and they have a Phoenix office!) but the cost starts at $3000. What? $3000? Seriously? Is this normal for videography? I had no effing clue it was this steep.

Hense my excitement when I stumbled across this lil treat: LayerCakeFilms. This is an Etsy shop that rents the Super 8 equipment and provides film so you can document your own wedding sans huge massive fees. Ummm...this rules. Check out their LayerCakeFilms website and blog.

I never ever (ever) even considered wedding videography. It has always seemed so awkward and cheesy to me. (I am not to comfy cozy in front of a camera as it is). However, that was before I saw this from A Bryon Photo. This is great!

(my little brain wheels are turning...Flagstaff is on historic Route 66...full of vintage flavor...quirky signs...old buildings...a great lil city to have fun doing something like this. I wonder if people do this out here.)
