wedding wish wednesday #3: family cohesion

My Guy and I are both blessed with such lovely families. I could spend everyday with my immediate family. Everyday. They crack me up, they challenge me to think, they motivate me to do well, they inspire me. And I absolutely adore My Guy's family. His mother reminds me sooooooooooo much of my own mother (I secretly think they are kindred spirits) and his aunts, uncles, cousins and sibs are so fantastic. I feel like I'm a part of their family already. A Christmas, a Thanksgiving and countless vacations have solidified that relationship. This past Christmas his family came out to Arizona to be with us, meet my family, and take in some lovely desert sites. Our parents got along so well...it was a dream come true!

I can't leave out our friends...and they are extensions of our family too. We have so many wonderful buddies, chums, and soul mates! However...our buds are really a melting pot of different groups where most of our friends don't know each other. We love them...perhaps they will love each other!?

I really hope that our families mesh...that our cousins and friends dance together...that our siblings laugh together, that our aunts and uncles find things in common. I'd love for this unity to happen at our wedding. Might be the best wedding wish ever.

  1. Well surely since both of your families are so fabulous and similar they will get along great.

I definitely do not enjoy time with my family or his family as much as you do!

  2. This is a big wish for me too. I grew up with an extended family that did not like one another. Grandparents didn't like the other side, one set of my grandparents divorced before I was born, both remarried, and both hated seeing the other (new spouses included). It has been an all around bad situation. I don't want my children to grow up with that. Thankfully my mother and his are both very easy going, get along with everyone, and our Dad's know how to keep it friendly. Everyone else?? Well, we'll see I guess...
