test taking (and broken computers)

This picture (from here) makes studying look so romantic...and dreamy. When in actuality I'm locked up in a sterile library with fluorescent lights glaring down from above, with so many mountains of books around me I feel like I will never dig my way out. I have to study in the library now...the fun and cozy cafes have an enticing creative energy that doesn't let me focus on medicine...I start thinking about color and form and art and inspiration...when I really need to stay uber focused. Oh...and I tend to eat too many warm fresh bagels... cookies... cupcakes.... lattes... etc. Hopefully such munchies will be avoided at the library. No food allowed.

I have my boards exam in a week.

Holy crap.

No blogging until it's over. None.

Please pray for me. Real hard. mmmK?

Like realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly hard.

*note: I'm writing this on my fiance's computer because MY computer broke yesterday. BROKE. Won't turn on. It experienced no trauma...no hydroplaning event like my car...it just died. How is it that in one week my car needs replacing and my effing computer? AND my boards are in a couple days!? Worst. Week. Ever. March has to be better.

  1. March will be better. I hate broken computers, mine is put to rest in the guest room along with all of our unpacked boxes. Thing will get better, hang in there!

  2. Whenever it seems like many bad things are happening to me, I rationalize that it's because the balance is preparing for one awesome thing to happen (maybe killing your boards?). This makes me feel better about the bad things :)

I'll send you good juju regardless!

  3. Fingers crossed that you ace it with flying colors, baby!!!

P.S. sorry about the computer. You dont deserve all this bad luck you have been having. Maybe we should see it as the dress rehearsal to your test? You know, screw up the dress rehearsal, have an awesome show?

  6. I've been thinking of you with the stress of boards coming up, and the wedding plans and the car accident . . . and now the computer.

Forget the car and computer for now. Just remember why you went to med school and think about how badly we need good caring doctors.

You will be a gem of a doctor! I'd visit you if you were local.

  7. Geez that sucks. But it WILL get better. Just watch, by next week something will have happened to make this all turn around. It's always the worst it can get before it gets better.

  9. is your computer a laptop? if so, you might just have to replace your battery. It happened to me. Good luck on your boards. Remember to breathe. Take a long shower and let the water run on your neck if you're having whip lash symptoms. :)

  11. It always happens this way, if one thing goes wrong, everything will go wrong. I'll certainly be praying for you, but you will do great on boards, the car situation will work out, and sharing a computer can work for a little while. Good luck!
