where we saved the most money: diy pinwheels

Thankfully, the super crafty diy bride, of Hindsight Bride, will be sharing some of her experiences, diy projects, and great mountain weddings over the next few days as my new HUSBAND and I move across the country.  She has some incredible advice!  Thank you for sharing with us!!

Flowers are expensive. Many planners advise budget brides to either use ceremony flowers for the reception, or use fewer ceremony flowers. We decided to forgo ceremony flowers all together. Instead, we decorated the aisle with pinwheels, streamers, and antique brick found onsite.

The tutorial I used can be found on Once Wed.

For a fancier pinwheel, check out Style Me Pretty.

Hindsight Tip: Sharpen the ends of each dowel with a pencil sharpener to help get them into the ground easier.

  2. I agree, what a great idea. Just hope the kiddies don't pick them up and think they are a wedding favor

  3. We totally lucked out on that brick pile. I'm a big fan of using what you've got at the venue.

@ Tejal LOL, after the ceremony, we plucked them out of the ground and handed them out to kids and adults alike. We of course saved a few as mementos, but who really needs 4 dozen paper pinwheels? ;-)
