bridal buff

I was bummed I wasn't able to work out consistently before our wedding.  It was the busiest year of my life - living out of suitcases, sleeping in hospital on-call rooms for weeks at a time, and not having a gym.  I ate a lot of Panera Bread (double whammy of free internet and rockin' food), hospital food, and more than the occasional drive through cuisine.   I got chubby.  My skin even went really wacky because of all the travel and poor diet.  It made me sad.

A few weeks before the wedding I got Jullian Michael's 30 day shred.  It was insane...and awesome...and she totally kicked my ass.  I would pop it into my laptop and would do it on the floor in my lil hotel room spaces.  I picked up a couple 10 lb weights and started squeezing in the short workouts everyday.  I didn't loose weight, but I could tell that I toned my arms up a little bit.

Of course, I didn't change my body in the short couple of weeks.  My lil belly pooch was there...and I still had my double chin.  However, on my wedding day...I didn't feel any weird body insecurities.  I felt loved...and that made me feel beautiful.  Thank goodness!

  2. Don't feel bad - I DID work out and I was sick a week before the wedding (no working out, but not eating a whole lot, either) and I still had a little "pooch" (always have, always will, no matter how thin I get) and I had that gosh darn little chin fat (genetics, I will never, ever go away!!). I think you looked fabulous. So many brides feel too much pressure to slim down. Isn't it best to look like ourselves on our big day?

  3. What double chin? I've never seen it in any of your photos! Your arms looked great, btw. And you were beautiful on your wedding day, just like you always are.

BTW, I will never understand why new doctors are subjected to schedules that will inevitably cause their health to suffer! And then we expect them to heal others!

  5. Double chin? Pooch? Psht. You're gorgeous and looked amazing on your wedding day. (and everyone over age 20 has a teeny pooch. It freaks me out more when women are rock hard.)

But yes, looking great really is about *feeling* great and treating ourselves well. Even if we don't loose weight. I just bought a mini-stepper and Jillian and committed to 30 minutes 3 mornings per week. Totally doable, and now I have workout variety. Yay.

  7. again. you look gorgeous. and none of your pictures show you pressing your arm fat into you hubby to make it look bigger. i have not seen even the slightest hint of a double chin. ridiculous!
ah but it does feel good to be buff... (I wonder what that feels like...)

  8. I did the shred last year. It was TOUGH. I had the same results as you did - no weight loss...but toner arms, for sure. :)

You looked gorgeous on your wedding day.
