the wiggly one

can you see that sweet lil profile???
A couple weeks ago Tommy and I went to my Ob/Gyn for the 12 week ultrasound...it was a total mind blow.

I remember at our 8 week ultrasound...it was the first time we ever saw the baby.  On the walk from our apartment to the doctor's office we were kindof nervous that maybe there wasn't really going to be a baby on the screen. You know, if it was possible that the 6 pregnancy tests I had taken, and the blood test were all wrong? Like maybe, it was all in my head or something.  I can't explain where that uncertainty came from - perhaps we were still in shock that we were going to have a baby in the first place.

But it wasn't a fluke.  Thank goodness!  We saw the lil tike and our world changed.

The 12 weeks ultrasound was CA-RAZY.  The lil guy was squirming and wiggling and stretching!  We could see his legs and arms and FINGERS and TOES and profile...and there were a couple shots on the ultrasound where I swear the baby was waving at us with his hands wide open.  I cried a little bit.  Nobody noticed...I'm kindof stealthy when it comes to tears in public.

The Ultrasound Tech was amazing.  She kept telling us how CUTE and ADORABLE our baby was...and she would gasp right along with us when the baby would start rolling around or stretch his limbs or dance right there in my belly.  Pretty much the perfect reaction two newbie parents want to hear.  Confirmation that yes, our child is remarkable.  It made is us smile at each other.

So, no wonder my belly is always nauseated...I have a lil break dancer in there shakin' things up!!  (though...now at 15 weeks, I have to say, the nausea is starting to substantially subside...yay!)

*did you notice how I refer to the baby as a boy?  I think it's a little dude...a subject I will certainly write more about later.  Tommy is convinced it's a little girl because the profile is so sweet looking ;-)

  2. Im betting on a girl (mostly bc having hung out with my bf's new-born nephew and seeing how he'd do anything to pee on you, I think a girl would be a tiny bit less laundry for you in the first couple months :)

  7. Congrats! Just wait until you are a few more months pregnant and you can actually see him moving! It's crazy to see the movement when you look down at your stomach!

  8. Still waiting on the story of how this baby was conceived... were you guys really not trying (as in using at least one method of birth control), or were just using the calendar method? Help your sisters out...

  9. SUCH a miracle, isn't it?

You are going to love being a mother. It's the best, hardest thing I've ever done.

P.S. Next we need a belly shot. ;)
