I'm constantly asking myself this question....if I only have 30 minutes, do I breastpump or do I spend time playing with Clara? I've had lots of after hour events in the past couple weeks...lectures, dinners, meetings, oncall rounding/surgery...which means a lot less time with my fam in the evenings. In those short moments between obligations I long to hold my sweet Clara - but if I don't pump, than she gets one less breastmilk meal and misses out nutritionally (aaaaand I deal with engorgement...and my milk supply decreases.) *Sigh*
I always pick playtime.

ReplyDeleteEvery time I read your blog I feel like we have experienced so many of the same things as new moms. I often chose pump (instead of play) and often felt guilty about not giving my little guy all of my attention. I just recently (in the last week) have gone from pumping 5 times a day to 3 times a day and it is such a liberating feeling. I just wanted to let you know there is hope and it gets better!
