don't steam sophie

I splurged and bought Clara the most famous of all teething  toys...Sophie the giraffe. And it was an instant hit.  Sophie and Clara started to accompany each other everywhere...we didn't make so much as a trip to the grocery story without Sophie in tow.  And I would frequently pat myself on the back for getting her the best toy ever.

I was hesitant to make the purchase at first...it was a little over $20...and for a baby toy I thought that was a bit pricey.  Yet, I couldn't find a single comparably cute and entertaining teething toy...believe me.  I looked everywhere.  There were some rather cute wood teethers but I decided that if I didn't have any teeth I'd rather chew on soft and squishy rubber and not wood.  But maybe that is just me.  I dunno. 

Sophie was the best thing ever.  Clara's little fingers were able to grab hold of it so nicely, she could fit so many different parts of the toy into her mouth...and there was a soft squeaker noise that kept her attention like a champ.

And then the vacuum got a hold of it.  I don't know how.  But it did.  And in an effort to sanitize it, my hubs threw it in the steamer.  Thus silencing the squeaker.

So that's my warning...don't steam sweet little Sophie...or it will kill her voice forever. 

Clara still likes Sophie.  But it really just isn't the same.
