my recent breakup

I've broken up with Hotmail.

I will admit it, I am one of the only people I know who still had a Hotmail email account.  It was my first email account that wasn't associated with AOL, so there is some sentimentality associated with it...ummm...or it's the main one I use for almost everything and I wouldn't even know where to start if something happened to it.

And then...well...something happened to it.  Two weeks ago it went wacky on me.  Wouldn't let me sign in.  Said that it had been "locked" after too many attempts to enter my password.  Sketchy.  I tried everything...new passwords....sending "help me" notes to Hotmail...cussing at my computer...getting Tommy to work on it with me...creating even more new passwords...cussing even louder...and nothing.  Nothing worked.

So.  Now I have nooooo idea how I will ever recover all of those IMPORTANT documents, valuable emails regarding my professional associations, email addresses from family, saved emails with recipes, photos and stories...and all of those priceless emails that Tommy and I sent each other during the first couple years of our long distance relationship.  (Umm...not to mention all of my bills, credit card and banking emails.  Eff.)

I started tonight with changing the email on the few sites that I know of for sure.  Slowly.  This sucks.

I HATE Hotmail.

*I feel better telling the world my disgust.

  1. Funny you posted this... I'm one of the only people I know that still has hotmail! I've never really had a problem with it until last week when it got hacked. I hadn't clicked on a bogus link or anything! Sent everyone in my email list a message on how to make money. Ex boyfriends, casual acquaintances, everyone. Yikes? It just seems like too big of a job to change it though. Since I have my August and After and photography email address I've managed to keep that one as my personal... but I may just change it. Better now than to deal with a situation like yours I guess!

By the way, you look STUNNING in the last post. Love the dress! I'm so sorry to hear things have been that tough. Lucky little Clara to have such a brave mama though! She's going to learn a lot from you.

  2. Wish we were closer so Eric could just head over and help you out. It is scary to realize how much of our lives are now virtual . . . and vulnerable! So I will send you a big virtual HUG and hope everything can be recovered.

  3. I don't blame you! My husband and sister both have constant issues with their accounts being hacked, and I always get emails from them in terrible English recommending that I click some link. I think everyone should use gmail - it's much better!

I'm so sorry. Really. I know what a hassle this sort of thing is.
