holiday party time

holiday party supplies from PartyMart - lovin' this inflatable reindeer (only $3.50!)

It's the most wonderful time of the year....in my book.  I love the holidays....the sparkle...the merriment...the food...the decor...the gatherings!  There always seems to be a certain magic to Christmas...or Holiday...or Festivus parties...don't you think?

Tommy and I went to an ugly holiday sweater party (It was a Festivus for the Rest of Us Party) a several years ago that was really funny.  There is just something surprisingly awesome about a dude wearing a grandma sweater with a giant reindeer with a blinking nose on it...I dunno.

I always enjoy a Yankee Swap gift exchange, where everyone ends up getting a nice gift (not necessarily expensive...but nice and enjoyable.)  The "awkward" gifts of White Elephant exchanges always make feel...well...awkward.   Some people looooooove awkward....I always want to bury my head in the sand.

What kind of holiday celebrations have you enjoyed in the past?  The good old fashioned Secret Santa gift exchanges?  Ugly Christmas Sweater themed gatherings?  Cookie exchanges?  Dress like an Elf costume parties?  I'd love to know how you party it up this time of year!!

  1. I'm not a fan of White Elephant gift exchanges either - for the same reason you listed.

I prefer laid-back get-togethers with close friends. Or parties geared to kids with crafts, stories, snacks, etc. It's so fun to see the magic of the holidays through the eyes of little ones.

  2. I used to work with a group of interior designers and they did the best White Elephant exchanges ever in the history of White Elephant exchanges.

Hey, a designer has a keen eye for what's ugly! ;)
