hold the frosting, please
Usually when I indulge in a little cake (or a lot of cake) I scrape off quite a bit of the frosting. Not a big fan of it. Whilst a cake decorator I ate myself silly with my frostings...had to taste every batch...I got over it, you know? (Though, I must admit, sometimes I like it, not gonna lie.)
Regardless, I dig this idea of yummy cakes sans frosting. Served with fresh fruits and whipped cream? Heavenly. I think yes.
And the white cake plates with lavender bunches is such a pretty presentation.
*happy birthday to you - my dear Beck-a-roo!

Thanks Jes! I like secret hidden messages!
ReplyDeletethe cake platters are exquisite!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a huge frosting fan either and my husband hates the stuff. For our wedding, I made our cakes and covered them with a chocolate ganache (chocolate I am a diehard fan of) :)
ReplyDeleteEveryone loved it once they saw it and were eating it, but I did get lots of comments beforehand. "You're not having frosting? How can you have cake without frosting???"
I'm the same way. I almost always scrape the frosting off when I eat cake. Especially if it's the thick, sugary variety.

Mountain Bride,
ReplyDeleteYou took the idea right out of my head.
The one cake I love is Lemon Pound Cake with Lemon Glaze. (powdered sugar, water, lemon juice) I'd still want it stacked like a traditional wedding cake though. Then throw some natural flowers on top and call it a day.
Your idea of whipped cream and fruit on the side is also a great idea I might consider adding to it.
