our diy place-cards

I don't think I can call this project "diy" because I bought pre-made place cards from Joanna's Fabric...and just printed them out on my computer.  But....they took me forever so I'm totally taking all the diy credit I can.

Originally, my mom was going to hand write all of the place cards...she studied Calligraphy in school...her penmanship is just divine.  Now, the poor thing has carpel tunnel and I just couldn't bring myself to have her do it!  Especially, since printing them sounded easy and fuss free.

Oh.  I'm sure they could have been fuss free. But I couldn't just pick any normal font...oh no.  I'm ridiculous and had to download a BETTER font... from Dafont.  Seriously?  Yes.  Seriously.  I spent like 2 hours trying to figure out how to download fonts...doy.

I first saw my fun font here, at iDiY and attempted to follow the instructions provided.  I ended up having to watch a YouTube tutorial because my computer skills are totally lame.  BUT...now I know how to do that...so I will most def pat myself on the back. I selected the Odstemplik font.

They turned out prettttty!

*note:  we bought the cards at Joanna's, 100 cards for the same price as 80 cards from Michaels...just so you know....and use those coupon codes to make 'em cheap cheap!)

  4. I love your fonts! The cards are classy. :) I had to get my then-fiancé to teach me how to download fonts too for our wedding invitations and subsequent printed items...and now I have all sorts of fun fonts to use!

  6. I love this shot! Wish I had one like this but our sucky photog didn't get one :(

I really love the font on the cards. And the fact that you printed them out (I did a lot of my DIY projects that way, too). And I think it's hilarious it took so long to get the font and figure out downloading it.

I spend hours just browsing fonts to download...I'm silly like that. But these look fabulous!

And hell yes home printing is hard! But these escort cards came out wonderfully. And I love the little pine cone accents

  9. This is the reason why blogs are so great. These placecards are swoon-worthy. It doesn't matter how much they cost, they look gorgeous. The cute little pinecones? It's just about getting creative and thinking it all through. Gorgeous!
