high school reunion

My high school 10 year reunion is coming up.  My best friend, and our Senior Class President, has been totally busting her butt to pull together a weekend of fun stuff to do...almost single handedly...and she doesn't even live in the city where we graduated!  Talk about a trooper.

I consider myself to be one of those lil miss high school types.  No, I don't mean that I was a popular girl...not by a long shot...but I LOVED high school.  When I think about my time there I think about everything all at once - our varsity soccer games, running cross country, our crazy demanding AP English teacher (but he was wonderful), choir (no surprise I love Glee!), my chums, my teachers, my class projects (is that goofy?  I remember so many of the projects I worked on for school! ha!), student council, homecoming parade floats, playing powderpuff, my first love, traveling around Europe, planning prom, singing at Carnegie Hall, all those car wash fundraisers, learning to drive, Friday nigh football games, oh my list could just go on and on!!  I rarely think of the drama...or the mean girls...or the a-holes...or the bullies that were obviously intertwined in my experience.  (Funny...Facebook actually puts the mean girls and the a-holes back into my life...why is that?!)

I was uber involved in high school, over involved to be honest, I didn't want to miss out on anything.  It kindof ruined me a little bit - now I rarely sign up to do "extra" stuff because in high school I signed up to do allllll the extra stuff!!  It's possible I'm still recovering.

So...all that being said, I can't attend the reunion.  AND I'M SO BUMMED!  I don't have any vacation days to do it.  NOTHING will keep me away from my 20 year reunion!

Did you go to your reunion?  Or are you planning on going?

  1. I went! It was totally fun to catch up with random people and gasp at those that moved to Germany or secretly laugh at those that let themselves go.

  2. I didn't go to mine.....I was not a huge fan of high school....ironically I will be attending my college 10 year reunion in October because it's the day after a good friends wedding that I'm flying in for...but I would have skipped that too if it weren't for the circumstances.

  3. You know, I'm not sure if I'll go to mine. I think I'd only consider it if we lived close by. But I was one of those kids who hated high school. I got made fun of as a kid and it kind of scarred me. But I was also the kid who took all the AP's I possibly could, was involved in sports, AND did crazy things like being editor of the yearbook. I guess you could say I have a love-hate relationship with it. =]

  5. I was the same way in high school...involved in everything! I was on the softball team, in musical theater, the editor of the newspaper, the student body president, a cheerleader, homecoming queen, etc.

BUT - I didn't attend my high school reunion. It was pricey ($80 or something) and late at night (not the most convenient when you have little ones). Besides, I kind of feel like I'm already connected with the people who I want to be connected with...thanks to Facebook and blogging.
