netipot saved my life

Do you know what a Netipot is?  It's possible that I've been living under a rock my whole life, but I have NEVER heard of this contraption....ever....and then today...FOUR FREAKING DIFFERENT PEOPLE TOLD ME ABOUT IT.  Four.  Doy.

I haven't been able to breathe out of my nose for about a week...today I even gagged a couple of times on the amount of flem stuck in the back of my throat...I sound like death....and just continue to blow my nose and then suck up my snot alllllll day long.  I am the definition of disgusting.

Within the first 5 minutes of being home tonight I busted open the Netipot box (Tommy ran to the drugstore while I was at work to buy it for me!).  I disolved the saline solution in the warm water, stuck the nozzel up to my nostril, tilted my head over the sink and freaking poured the warm saline solution INTO my  nostril.  Yes.  I was pouring water into one of my nostrils.  Guess what came out the other nostril?  A waterfall of snot.

Tommy said it looked like I was vomiting out of my nose.

I don't even care. I can breathe now.  It feels wonderful.  WONDERFUL.  I CAN BREATHE!!!

I am determined to spread the good news!!!  It's like a miracle.

  2. I've been so preoccupied that lately I get to your posts late in the day (or night). I've heard of Netipot, but never knew what it did. Thank you for the information. I might need it some day!

  4. Yay another convert! It stopped my last cold in its tracks. I felt a cold starting to come on and I used a netipot and gargled with salt water for a few days. No cold!
    Glad you're feeling better!

  5. We have a version of a netipot that looks like a giant syringe with a silicon tip. I love it, it honestly washes the cold away. My husband uses it when he's working in a dusty or insulation filled area (he's an electrician), he says food tastes better when he uses it.

  6. You are so funny. I have heard of them and know people swear by them, but they scare the bajeezurs out of me and don't think I can do it...we'll see if I ever get sick enough to. Glad you're feeling better!

  7. It can also be used as a preventative med too. Just use it any time you would think of using Airborne and you will be less likely to get a cold in the first place. This time of year, every time people come over with snotty kids, a coworker comes to work sick and infects everything you touch...just go home and use a netipot and consider it like washing your hands/nose. :-)

  9. I've never tried it, but I think someone mentioned it when I had a sinus infection during my last pregnancy.

Thanks for spreading the word. I'll definitely add this to my mental list of home remedies for colds and stuffy noses.
