two weeks until 30

I turn THIRTY years old in roughly two weeks.  Thirty is big.  When you're a kid, 30 sounds OLD.  Shoot...even when you are 27, 30 sounds OLD.  But I know, in the scheme of life, 30 is nowhere near old.  It's another beautiful milestone...an age that I am so blessed to experience.

I've tried to wrap my brain around what it is to be 30.  Even up until a few years ago, there is something about that particular age where there is some sort of line drawn in the sand.  I guess I had always thought that being 30 meant having my shit together.

Now, I have to laugh at that.

  1. I will be 30 one week from today. . . I thought it would be a bigger deal . . but I think it will be just another day. I plan on spending time with by BFF (who has all of her s*** together - husband, great job, 5 kids, etc) and her family and my wonderful new husband. Definitely don't have myself all together, but who knows if we ever will :-)

  2. I absolutely love my 30s! I've come to grips that nothing will ever be together and I need to enjoy my life :) 30 is amazing... 31 is even better :)

  3. I don't know if it's a matter of getting one's s**t together by 30 or learning that you can redefine what having one's s**t together means.

The best part about aging is gaining the wisdom to rewrite the rules.

  5. Wait till you're 53, like me.

I remember clear as day sitting in an office in 1985 and saying to a coworker ... "Wow, we're 27 years old. Didn't you think we'd be more grownup at this age?"

    Ha.

  6. Eclair has it right. I turn 30 in April, and I can't help but laugh at how sucky 20-year-old me would think my life has turned out. I'm not the CFO of an international corporation, or the partner at an accountancy firm. I spend my days making faces at the most gorgeous little boy in the world.

I have an incredible son, a precious dog and a baby who melts my heart. All the stuff I feared I'd never find is here. Now I can just get on and enjoy it. :)

  7. I really enjoyed my 30s...and my 40s even more so....and now that I am in my 50s....well I am loving my life! I would never want to go back to my 20's again. So embrace and enjoy the your new decade!

  8. I've been thinking a lot about 30 recently too. My birthday is in January and somehow 30 seems both old and young at the same time.
