boogie nights

Had our first dance lesson last night.  (Recall that my best friend gave us four dance lessons as an engagement gift - yea...I cried when I opened it!)  Anyway, it was sooo fun!

The 20 minutes went by in the blink of an eye.  There were several people/couples having their personal  dance lessons at the same time as us.  Each group had their own instructor, and our songs would rotate...it was cool.  Our instructor, Felicity (just love that name...takes me back to my Felicity Merriman days), is basically teaching us basic dance steps.  This will enable us to dance at our wedding...and at any wedding/event in our future.  I like the idea of that!

It was the BEST way to spend a Wednesday evening with my loverboy...dancing and smiling and flying across the dance floor (and yes...we flew a couple times...that foxtrot really moves ya!)

Thanks Kami...you blessed us with some great memories!

*note:  I wore my "wedding shoes" - to make sure I can move around in them OK.  Well...they are a no-go my friends.  They hurt. I have a Haglund's deformity on the back of my heels...it's no big deal...I just have to be careful about hard heel counters on shoes.  So - if they hurt after 20 minutes of dancing, I'm not going to even deal with them.  I need a new pair of wedding shoes.

*EXTRA note:  Tommy texted me this morning after he read my blog post  to inform me that Boogie Night's is movie about porn.  Nope.  I didn't know that.  Too late now.  Whoops.

  1. #1 I am jealous of your dance lessons, and think that that is an EXCELLENT engagement gift!

#2 Re: shoes. One word: FLATS! Or at least that's what I did. I'm not a heels type girl, so why would I want to wear heels on my wedding day? Flats are cute and comfy!

  2. It sounds fun! Oh, and if you're not doing the garter thing at the wedding, your shoes won't be noticable. Be comfortable! Yea, flats! There are plenty of cute ones.

  3. What a fun gift!

Yeah, I love the look of heels, but there is no. way. that'd I'd last if I tried to wear them for more than maybe 20 min. I'm going the gold sandal (with added fabric flowers) route.

  5. Awesome - I so wish we would have had time for this before the wedding but salsa lessons are on our list for "things to do after the wedding" - that list keeps getting longer!

  6. Oh my gosh that is too funny! That would be the kind of mistake I'd make with a blog title too.
Sucks about the shoes! Whatever will you do having to buy ANOTHER pair of shoes. ;] No but really, it can be quite a pain in the butt.
And guess what? I STILL have Felicity. =]

  8. I so totally want to take dancing lessons. Actually, that was one of our vows, G committed to being my willing dance partner and I committed to ride my bicycle. tee hee. anyway, you can wear the shoes you have to walk down the aisle and then switch to flats or, go the actual dance shoe route. ask your dance instructor about dancing shoes. cori jessy mentioned it in her blog too and honestly, I can't believe it never occurred to me. although, my shoes turned out perfectly (brand: all black).

  9. That picture = adorable.

And what a creative gift idea for a newly engaged couple! I'm going to keep that in mind when friends announce their engagement.
