iPhone app suggestions??

our first iPhone pic!

For the past 18 months I've used a very used, very worn, very loved cell phone given to me by my father in law - one of the original NV touch models...a real classic.  It finally passed on to cell phone Heaven (after nearly 6 or 7 years of dutiful service) and I was left without a phone.

Decided to go for it....it being the coveted iPhone...the phone that everyone talks about alllllll the time.  I wasn't excited about the hefty data charge fee....or figuring out how to use MAC products after years of loving the ease of Windows...or umm...again....the added data plan fee was really hitting me hard.

Yet.  Here I am.  One week later...and I consider my life to be changed for the better.

I'm obsessed.

Obsessed...but still bitter about the added data plan fees.  And I don't understand how to know how much "data" I actually use?  Is there an App for that!?  Anybody know??

Apps are fun and informative....I'm loving Epocrates, AO Surgery, Instagram and Camera+...

What are your favorite Apps?

  1. My iPhone was stolen two weeks ago :( Thank heavens it was insured, but it takes forever to process the claim! I'm currently relying on my sister's old Blackberry.

I particularly like iMapMyRun, :) Sudoku + (yes, with the smiley face and the + sign - that particular one has great tutorials. It got me through my three day stay on the induction ward!)

You Don't Know Jack is a funny quiz game, and Knight Frank and Hamptons are great for eyeing up beautiful houses for sale around the world. I'm a little obsessed with buying lottery tickets and imagining what houses I'll buy...

The Pinterest app is still a bit of a work-in-progress, but better than the mobile site.

The biggest thing for me is having my music and podcasts available. I'm a little OCD with my playlists, and no other smartphone I've seen will maintain them quite how I like.

I'm really keen to find a good, fully functional (so I can assign to folders easily) Google reader-compatible app, so if anyone has any recommendations, let me know!

  2. If you're looking for something to do while waiting in line or just to pass a few seconds, hook yourself up with Words With Friends. It is a devilishly addicting Scrabble-type game that you play at your own pace, only making a move when you feel like it. You can play with friends or strangers. I highly recommend it! Btw, welcome to iPhone fandom, you'll never go back!

  3. I don't know what they are called, but my friend has apps their 1 year old can use... when she touches the screen it makes lines and shapes. It was pretty neat and kept her entertained for a little bit.

  6. Camera+ is great for taking, editing, and sharing pictures. Words with Friends and Hanging with Friends are must haves. Angry Birds and the Amazon app are two of my favorites also.

  7. ooo.... i love my iphone also. i protested for a long time, i don't know why i was so stubborn. its amazing isn't it? i go through phases with my apps... but i like plants vs zombies, tiny wings is fun, pinterest app has some glitches, cut the rope, get out....all apps i use in the middle of night on my break at work to get the gruesome traumas out of my head and be distracted. you have done facetime with the grandparents right? i just about cry doing facetime with my california & colorado family....and we don't even have our little girl yet to show off. facetime truly is sensational for out of town friends/family.
