the pressure of mommy blogs

OK.  Do I dare discuss this?  I don't know...I feel intimidated already...but it's driving me nuts so I gotta just get it off my chest.

Mom blogs are NOT like Bridal blogs.  When I started blogging about wedding planning, I loved it - it was a huge crazy fill of brides from all over creating their dreamy day of nuptials to the one the loved best...it wasn't a competition...at least I never felt like it was.  It was idea sharing...and stimulating thought...and showcasing DIY projects...and venting...and applause-giving.

The business of mommy blogs is not so open minded.  I feel like there is SOOOOO much finger pointing at mother's who don't do "whatever" or who do "whatever" too much.  Oftentimes it isn't blatant finger pointing....it tends to be more of an implied finger pointing.  You know?  It's weird.    I betcha I'm being silly about this.

Maybe...maybe I'm not being fair...maybe I just haven't found a handful of mommy bloggers I connect with.   Maybe I'm reading too much into it.  To be honest, my list of mommy blogs has started to dwindle down to only a couple as of late - so maybe I should just give them all another try.

I'd love to give up my quest all together - but I'm found so many outstanding ideas from mama blogs to give up blogging all together!!  I love good ideas.  It might be a good idea if I just take a chill pill.

I'm not a mom yet, but I think these are all really good examples of mommies supporting each other!

  3. Hi Jes! Remember me from all that bridal blog goodness? I totally feel ya on this.... I haven't gotten into mommy blogs (besides my sister, cousin, and bff i spose) cause i'm too tired with my own kids to comment or conversate about other people's kids! And i haven't blogged in almost 2 years until yesterday.

I gotta catch up on your life and your wee one!

  5. Hmmm. I don't read any mommy blogs. But honestly, what more can you do right as a mother? You're already a super mom in our eyes. Few could do what you've done career-wise and still be such a great mom.

  8. Most of the blogs that I read can't quite be categorized. After all, what exactly is a "mom blog"? ;)

The majority of blogs that I follow are written by smart, creative, and kind women (who also happen to be moms).

Have you seen these ones? They're wonderful.
