yes...i forgot my dress at home

Not only did I forget my WEDDING DRESS.  I forgot our WEDDING LICENSE.  Two biggies.  Like...mandatory biggies.

And ummm....recall ours was a destination wedding.

Thank goodness my little sister saved the day.  She was leaving Phoenix later that night, so I called her and she packed them up.  (But poor thing...on her way to Flagstaff that night, she had a vehicle malfunction and couldn't get there...in fact....she was stranded on the side of the freeway until AAA could save her...at midnight  Then the next morning, it  took her nearly 3 extra hours to get to Flagstaff because of bad traffic, numerous accidents, and fires off the freeway.  Yikes.  I OWE her big time.)

I also forgot little things, like the pajamas, a sweatshirt, ummmm.....PANTS.  Now, I'm not a total idiot as I did pack sundresses (but it could have been cold, and I wasn't prepared for cold....turns out I didn't need pants anyway...so that was ok)  Also, another biggie I forgot was my pretty lil wedding bracelet.  So nope, I didn't get to wear it after all...major bummer.

When it came time to the wedding, I forgot to take my lipgloss - or to pack a lil make-up bag to freshen up during the night. This means that the make-up I applied at noon-ish was the same stuff I was wearing at 11pm.  Hummm...not typically the best idea.  (I think personally, my makeup looked better after it had been on for awhile....as I put on a lot of it...probably too much to be honest....see....well....I had a zit...and pretty much used an entire foundation on it.  But anyway.)  The biggest bummer was my lip gloss.  Thankfully, one of my bridesmaids remembered her's (she was a saint and I would come running to her every hour or so when my lips were too dry for words.)  WHO forgets lip gloss on their wedding day?  (Ummm...or their dress?)

I remembered my yellow rain galoshes, even though the forecast swore it would be nothing but sunshine.  And I remembered everything else.  I think.  (there very well may be something I'm forgetting here.)

Did you forget something on your wedding day?

  1. I forgot our toast/speech. Thankfully only in the hotel room upstairs (we got married in a cute little boutique hotel), but it did cause a moment of panic. Thankfully my mom came to the rescue and ran up and got it for us just in the nick of time!

  3. Wow...I love that picture - fantastic backdrop. I didn't forget but when we filled out our marriage license paperwork we'd had a few cocktails and did it wrong so it delayed the process by a few weeks - so I guess we weren't technically married on our wedding day - whoops!

  4. we forgot so many things on our wedding day :) Jon forgot to be at the alter as I walked down the aisle (it was okay, he was just on the back porch, his groomsmen/our ushers actually forgot to get him)

p.s. love the picture featured here :)

  5. My wedding hasn't happened yet, but at a wedding were I was MOH I forgot the ring! eek! Luckily it was at this old mansion and we walked down the stairs to our spots on the stairs and as I stood their I went "OH SHIT!" and just ran back upstairs and grabbed it and no one really noticed too much and as I flew by the bride on my way back she nearly freaked out but then laughed when I told her... :)

  6. We forgot salt and pepper for the S&P shakers. Ours was DIY all the way so I was responsible for organizing every planning and catering detail. Luckily I am a compulsive list maker and S&P was all that I forgot. I am also grateful I hired a Day-Of coordinator and gave her all of my lists, time lines, and other contact info. She and my Man of Honor figured out a solution without bothering me about it.

So here's my unsolicited hindsight advice: Start making lists early in the planning process and add items as they occur to you. That way you will not be trying to remember everything the week of the wedding.

  7. That has to be one of the craziest things I ever heard.....forgetting your wedding dress. LOL Too funny. But sometimes it's things like that, that make for some pretty cool stories you can tell in the future. Poor sister....her story will be a little more painful. =(
But as I always say, "things always seem to come out fine in the end".

  12. OMG i cant believe you forgot your dress!!! Yay for your sister tho!

I think I would have done similar if I had had a destination wedding; im being a bridesmaid in italy in a couple of weeks and im paranoid about forgetting my dress or shoes!

    Dont think I forgot anything!

  13. We forgot to get the marriage license signed by a witness and the officiant. Luckily those two people were my best friend and her husband, so we drove by their house the next day!

  14. Stories like this are why I actually kind of *hope* something goes slightly awry for my wedding. My mom thinks I'm crazy and says that it sounds like I'm wishing for bad, but that's not it. Typically, everyone finds a solution for the mix ups and bands together while solving the problem. The imperfect things are what make the quirky, funny memories. (Not that I'd wish your sister's experience on anyone...that must have sucked.) But in the end? You got married and it was wonderful. That's what I want.

  15. Ha... i forgot my license as well. Unbelievable. Matt's uncle who married couldn't believe that we could forget something so crucial...I can't believe that the rest of the wedding even came together. Talk about the number of things on your mind! So we had to mail it to Colorado a week later from Idaho. No big deal. Whats a week later on getting a new last name when you have the rest of your life?!

  16. We almost had a dry wedding. The supplier wrote down the last day of August when it was actually the 30th. Thank goodness they were able to scramble and make the delivery.
